Both can cause sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, coughing and tiredness, but there are a few helpful differences.

Hay fever is an allergic reaction to triggers such as pollen, grass, dust mites or mould. It isn’t contagious and may continue or return while you’re exposed to the trigger.

Signs that may suggest hay fever:

• Itchy, watery or red eyes
• An itchy nose or throat
• Frequent bursts of sneezing
• Thin, watery nasal discharge
• Symptoms that worsen outdoors or on high-pollen days
• No fever or body aches

A cold is an infection caused by a virus. More than 200 viruses can cause cold symptoms. It spreads through coughing, sneezing, contaminated hands and close contact with an infected person.

Signs that may suggest a cold:

• Sore throat
• Cough
• Feeling generally unwell
• Mild fever or body aches
• Symptoms that gradually improve within about a week

To manage hay fever, reducing exposure to triggers may help. Depending on your symptoms, a pharmacist or GP may also recommend saline rinses, antihistamines or a corticosteroid nasal spray.

A shallow latch is a common cause of nipple pain, but other factors may also contribute—such as engorgement, nipple damage, your baby’s sucking or oral movement, tongue-tie, infection, vasospasm, or an incorrectly fitted breast-pump flange.

What is pelvic floor health?

Your pelvic floor is a group of muscles and connective tissues forming a supportive base at the bottom of your pelvis. It helps support your bladder and bowel, as well as the uterus and vagina in females and the prostate in males.

These muscles also contribute to bladder and bowel control, sexual function, breathing, movement and the management of pressure when you cough, sneeze, exercise or lift.

But pelvic floor health is not only about having strong muscles.

A healthy pelvic floor needs to tighten when support is required and relax when you urinate, open your bowels or engage in comfortable sexual activity. Problems can develop when the muscles are weak, overly tight, injured or not coordinating effectively.

Possible signs include leaking, urgency, constipation, pelvic heaviness, difficulty emptying the bladder or bowel, pelvic pain, or discomfort during sex.

These concerns are common, but you do not have to simply put up with them. Because different symptoms can have different causes, personalised assessment is more helpful than assuming everyone needs the same strengthening exercises.

Have you ever finished a long day and noticed your neck feels tight, your shoulders are tense, and suddenly… you have a headache?

There can be a connection between your neck and your head. The nerves and structures in your upper neck interact with pain pathways involved in the head, which means pain from the neck can sometimes be felt as a headache.

But there’s an important reminder: not every headache comes from the neck. Conditions such as migraine can also cause neck pain and stiffness.

So rather than simply asking, “How can I get rid of this headache?” it can be helpful to ask:

💧 Have I had enough water?
😴 Am I getting enough quality sleep?
